Initially self taught, Allan spent the 1960's establishing the Red Onion Jazz Band internationally, along with close friends Brett Iggulden and Bill Howard. Collaborating and creating works with the Australia Arts Council, his has developed numerous works with his Quintet & Trio. A leader in the Australian Jazz community and patron for the Stonnington Jazz Festival.
